UK School Games

31st August, 2011

The UK School Games start on Friday with Team Wales hoping to bring back medals

Lewis Williams, Conor Edwards, Chris Griffiths & Alex Prosser represent the boys team with Nicole Hall, Megan Phillips, Charlotte Carey and Angharad Phillips representing the girls team. Cellan Hall and Kiran Parry are our disabled athletes to complete the team.

Liverpool GP

21st August, 2011

At the first Grand Prix of the season Ryan Jenkins left off where he was last season with another win against Scottish number 1 Gavin Rumgay 3-1. The two players met last year at Liverpool with the Welsh champion winning that final encounter also.

After one and a half days of pure excitement and battle, the final places of the Welsh players were as follows:

Soffi Jenkins 24th
Callum Evans 26th
Jac Jenkins 33rd (who was given the fair play award)

There were many great performances against some of the best Europe has to offer at present. It was a great learning environment with over 70 players in attendance.

Kiskunfelegyhaza

Soffi Jenkins, Caitlin Williams, Callum Evans and Jac Jenkins are all in Kiskunfelegyhaza, Hungary for a ETTU training camp with the best from Europe this week.

Under the coaching guidance of former German coach Richard Prause, the players will be able to grab some of his knowledge which led Germany, and most notably, Timo Boll, to the top in the world.

Wednesday and Friday will see all the players engage in a tournament and this will test their progress.

On another positive note, the weather is fantastic and the surroundings are beautiful with a swimming pool and gyms nearby.

Welsh Top 12 Men & Top 8 Women

Chloe & Ryan take the titles

Chloe Thomas showed her amazing power to win the Welsh Top 8 in Cardiff today. Chloe, who represented Wales at the World Championships, last May in Rotterdam, beat team-mate Charlotte Carey 11-8, 11-9 & 12-10. Charlotte had to dig deep in the semi final to beat Nicole Hall, who had several match points in the last set. Charlotte won 11-6, 9-11, 11-5, 9-11, 17-15. Chloe beat Anna Labuz of Cardiff 11-6, 11-4, 8-11, 11-9 in the second semi.
Anna then beat Nicole for the 3/4th place with an 11-7, 11-8, 11-8 win.

Congratulations to Naomi Owen & Charlotte Carey for being selected by the BTTF selection committee on the 'Long List' towards the Olympics in London next summer.

Both players will be trying to add to their results for the selection of the 'short list' which will happen in Feb 2012 and then the final team selection next May.
