Double Gold for Carey
Charlotte Carey has added the British U14 Gold to her already strong achievements list. After beating Emma Torkington (England) 3-2 in a tense final Charlotte said, “I didn’t play my best but I am very happy with winning the title. It has been a successful weekend for me and now I’m looking forward to the European Championships in Turkey and the UK School Games in England later in the summer”.
Wales have good results in Team Event
Charlotte Carey, Beth Roberts, Angharad Phillips and Chloe Thomas brought the Gold back home to Wales in the team competitions of the British Schools at Limerick.
Charlotte and Beth were playing in the U14 team competition and were undefeated as a team all tournament. They beat England 3-2 in the final. Charlotte remained the only player to have a 100% record throughout the team event.
Wales players flying in Hereford GP
Day 1 - Wales have 4 winners on the banded day of the Hereford GP. Simon Oyler won 2 bands, Dan O'Connell won his band 3 and Nicole was a winner in the women's band 3.
The Sainsbury's UK School Games will take place this September 2-5 in the North East of England.
Wales will compete against Ireland, Scotland and several English Regions in one of the biggest table tennis events of the year.
Luxembourg Junior Open
The Welsh Team consisting of 6 players and 3 coaches made the long journey to Luxembourg on Friday 11th June after stopping of in France on the Thursday night.
The Board of the TTAW is considering organising the Team Championship of Wales - Junior, Senior and Veteran - over two weekends, instead of four separate days as is the current format.
Our thoughts include holding one weekend's fixtures in South Wales and the other in North Wales.
Charlotte Carey and Nicole Hall will fly the flag for Wales at the EYC this year in Turkey from the 16-21 July. Last year the cadet girls finished a credible 22nd and we shall look to progress on this result.
All results from the tournament will be reported daily from Istanbul.

The event will be staged at the Beaufort Ballroom in Ebbw Vale. There is a Premier Inn nearby if you wish to stay over.
After the Icelandic Fog interrupted the last tour from the springboks, we have organised a smaller tour to commence from 8th June. This will last for 6 days with 3 test matches against the team that finished 2 places behind Wales in the 2009 Commonwealth Championships in Glasgow.
