Five Girls From Denbigh Table Tennis Club Brought Home Six Trophies From Across The Border

Five girls from Denbigh Table Tennis Club brought home six trophies from across the border mid December.

Chloe Edwards, Gabbi Wan, Faye Evans, Kate Roberts and Lucie Chinnery-Williams travelled to Blackpool early on Sunday morning with coaches Alan Griffiths and Kath Banks to take part in the Stiga 1-star Tournament at the Palatine Leisure Centre.

Star of the day was thirteen-year-old Chloe Edwards, who won the Junior Girls’ Plate competition, claiming a marathon 5-set victory over Zarah Dixon of Lancashire on the way, in which she clinched the final set 22-20; she defeated club-mate Gabbi Wan in straight sets in the final. Chloe was also runner-up in the Cadet Girls event.

11-year-old Faye Evans also distinguished herself in what was her first tournament outside Wales by coming runner-up in the Under 13 event, while Gabbi Wan, Kate Roberts and Lucie Chinnery-Williams all claimed runner-up spots, in the Junior Girls Plate, Under 13 Plate and Under 11 Plate events respectively.

Chloe is received her Junior Girls’ Plate trophy from Katie Parker, the former England number one.
