SUCCESS FOR NORTH WALES PAIR IN STIGA SERIES
The winter long Stiga Series proved to be a highly successful event for two of North Wales’ leading players, Huw Jones and Megan Phillips. Not only did they both win the day long competition at the weekend but they also claimed first place for winning the overall series—and with it, the trophy and prize money. It was just reward for both Huw and Megan as they had proved to be the most consistently successful players over the seven event series. Having supported her sister, Angharad, at the Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships in Glasgow, Megan’s return to form continued as she dominated the opposition and dropped only one set during the day. Meanwhile Huw, who had stormed through the earlier rounds, won his final after a titanic battle, winning in the fifth set 16-14.
