Bridgend Table tennis star announces retirement after seven Paralympic Games

Multi-medal winning table tennis player Neil Robinson has this week announced his retirement from international competition following a Paralympic career spanning nearly 25 years.

Fifty-year-old Robinson made his Paralympic debut at the Stoke Mandeville 1984 Paralympics and has competed at every Games since with his last appearance at the Beijing Paralympics in 2008, making him one of Britain’s most experienced Paralympians.

Cippenham Young Players’ New Year Festival (31.1-1.2.09)

The Cippenham Young Players’ New Year Festival brought players from far and wide, including the usual successful contingent from Wales, to Slough at the weekend. Almost 300 entries were received for this 1-star open tournament, played on 17 tables over two days in two halls at the Club’s Westgate School headquarters.

Ael-y-Bryn Star "Cashes in" at Uxbridge Junior Open

Ael-y-Bryn Table Tennis Club's Beth Roberts collected a generous cash prize and trophy last weekend for winning the under 13 girls event at the Uxbridge Junior Open held at Burton on Trent.

Cardiff Satellite Grand Prix

Jackie Williams Umpires at the World Again

Congratulations to Jackie Williams of Wrexham who has been selected to umpire at the World Championships in Japan. This will be Jackie’s sixth World Championships, having done two senior and three junior championships in the past.

European Table Tennis gets boost from NETEYES live broadcast.

ETTU TV (www.ettutv.com )will broadcast the main European Table Tennis events from January 2009 until December 2010. It will operate through a website ( www.neteyes.hu/ettutv ), which is created to serve the international interest and where their broadcastings and archive videos can be seen too. The live internet streaming will be done completely by their own staff with commentary in English.

The next event to be broadcast will be the LIEBHERR Europe TOP 12 from Düsseldorf (GER), 7-8 February 2009.

-- www.ettutv.com - is the website of NETEYES Ltd as the first official Web Television of Hungary, their live broadcast series provided to the European Table Tennis Union from January 2009 on.

A party from Wales of 19 players travelled by bus to Glasgow for the tournament and had some great results throughout the weekend.
