4 Nations International Tournament (22 – 24 January 2009)

Three visiting teams (boys and girls) from England, France (Lorraine) and Luxembourg joined two Welsh teams for this years 4 Nations International Tournament in Cardiff. All the players were aged between 9 and 12 and they provide some excellent displays of table tennis over the three days.

This weekend 8 young welsh players travelled to Grantham to play in the East Midlands 4 star tournament. All of the players played exceptionally well over the weekend and put up a good fight in all of their matches.

The list includes the Senior Team Championships of Wales on 4th Jan.

WALES FIND IT TOUGH IN PORTUGAL

Two Welsh Cadet teams travelled to Portugal to compete in the Portuguese Youth Open Tournament. The teams consisted of Daniel O Connell and Lewis Williams for the boys with Chloe Thomas and Charlotte Carey for the girls. The event was held in Tavira in the Algarve region of Portugal.

The tournament was very tough; it was probably the strongest junior tournament I have ever attended with some of the top ranked cadet and junior players in the world. The winner of the junior girls was Benadette Szocs who is currently ranked at number 10 in the world cadet ranking list.
