The 2008 Newport Cadet Open Table Tennis Championships were held Sunday 23 November. Competitors from all over Wales along with one from Hampshire descended on Newport Velodrome to compete in 3 age categories Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15. The under 11 girls were played on a round robin basis where Laura Edwards for the girls came out on top. The under 11 boys were split into 2 groups of 3 Ryan Oyler winning through in the closest final of the day. The under 13s and under 15s were split into groups of 4 to play a round robin the top 2 in each group went through to the main knockout event. After some very exciting battles the winners were:- Charlotte Cary (Ebbw Vale) and Lewis Williams (Brynmawr) in the Under 13s.age category Chloe Thomas (Tredegar) and Lewis Williams (Brynmawr) won in the Under 15s.
