Largs, Scotland 19th /21st September 2008
Wales won the Men’s and Women’s team, and the overall team competitions at the weekend in Largs. The Welsh men were Adam Robertson, Ryan Jenkins and Stephen Jenkins. The Welsh Ladies were Naomi Owen and Naomi Wilson.
The team competition started on Friday evening at 5.00 pm with the Welsh men and women up against England. This is the first time that anyone can remember were we met England in the first match. Adam and Ryan triumphed 3-0 against Rushton and Yarnall, but the two Naomis narrowly lost 3-2, with the doubles being the decisive game against Travis and Le Fevre.
Six Nations played in Perth Scotland 12th, 13th and 14th of September 2008.
The magnificent city of Perth was the setting for the 2008 Six Nations Veterans Table Tennis Championships.
This year’sWelsh team was entered under the TTAW umbrella and the whole event was played in a wonderful spirit with many friendships being formed.

Charlotte joins elite group in France
Charlotte Carey has now joined Wales’ elite group of individuals after winning the Minime Girls Singles at an international competition in Bethune in France last weekend.
Naomi Owen and Ryan Jenkins took top honours at the Travel City Cardiff Open. Ryan beat Gavin Rumgay of Scotland to win the men’s title, having played each other many times in the past and knowing each others game Ryan won a great table tennis match. Heavy forehand top spins were exchanged but the difference in the two players was Ryan’s sublime backhand, every young player should watch this terrific stroke of his. Ladies final saw Naomi beating Hannah Hicks; this match was so different with Naomi’s powerful forehand drives against Hannah’s topspin. Hannah had a good day getting to the semi-finals of the under 21 and band 1.
Neil Powell of Ellesmere Port, Cheshire has been appointed as Development Coach for North Wales. Neil is at present a part time coach with the British Paralympics Association.
Following the August meeting of the Board of Directors of the TTAW, an updated disciplinary process will shortly be introduced. A copy of this will be published on the web site and all members are asked to read and digist its content.
League and Club Secretaries/Leaders are aske to take particular notice of the content of the new policy and relay it to their members who do not have access to the web.
Associated with the new policy is the appointment of an Investigating Officer; Steve Eads has been appointed to this post. As part of the post's remit, Steve will not form part of the Disciplinary Board which remains independent of TTAW Board Members.
New Ranking List is now available under ranking. The last lists for the 2007/08 season have been divided by 5 to make up the first ranking list for the 2008/09 season
