The second of the Senior Invitation Tournaments were held in Cardiff on Sunday. Players from Luxembourg, China, England and Wales gathered to play at the Welsh Institute of Sport.
Naomi Owen (Wal) was the clear overall winner of the ladies event with Sally Smith (Eng) second. On matches won, third place was a 3 way tie between Hannah Avery (Wal), Natasha Rees (Wal) and Megan Phillips (Wal). However, on games count-back Hannah was 3rd, Natasha 4th and unfortunately Megan missed out on any prize money coming 5th.
The mens event was again dominated by the Chinese, coming in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. However Patrick Thomas was only narrowly beaten into 4th place by Lin Bin 11-8 in the 5th end. Owen Clutterbuck came 5th.
A senior invitation tournament was held at the Welsh Institute of Sport on Sunday. Those invited included players from China, Luxembourg, Belgium, England and Wales.
Naomi Owen came out top of the lady players without dropping a set winning the top prize of £75 with Emma Rose (Eng) coming 2nd and Regina Donovan (Wal) 3rd.
The men’s tournament was dominated by the three Chinese players with only Maxim Guyot (Bel) preventing a 1,2,3 for the Chinese contingent.
Best placed Welsh player in the men’s event was Neil Wright coming 5th.
