On 25 May Natasha Rees, Chloe Thomas, Megan Phillips, Angharad Phillips , Charlotte Carey, Daniel O’Connell, Huw Jones, Lewis Williams and Mathew Lancey accompanied by Tony Boasman and Nicola Carey travelled from Wales to Tunis to take part in a three day ITTF Training Camp followed by the ITTF Junior Circuit - Tunisian Junior Open.
A high quality three day camp and then some excellent Welsh performances in the Open meant that when our party returned to Wales on 3 May they had impressed all by bagging two silver and three bronze medals.
In the cadet girls competition N.Rees and C.Thomas swept all aside before losing 3- 0 in a hard fought final to a strong Egyptian team. A.Phillips, M Philips & C.Carey followed close behind after comprehensively defeating Tunisia B 3 – 0 to finish in third place.
The cadet girls doubles was another good event for Wales. Megan and Angharad reached the semi final to secure a bronze before losing 3- 0 to the Egyptian pair of Amr & Meshref. Natasha and Chloe went one better outmanoeuvring Barhoumi & Jiwar of Tunisia in their semi before losing to Amr & Meshref in the final.
H.Jones and L.Williams won a bronze in the cadet boys doubles and it could have been even better with the Welsh pair losing by the tightest of margins in the 5th to Tunisia’s Hmam & Miamia.
