Wales were represented in all events at the recent Six Nations Championships held, this year in Belfast. Our over 40's team was made up of Steve Hall, Jeff Rigby, Regina Donavon and Vicky Skeats. They were by far our most successful team and came back with a Silver Medal.
Our over 50's team was made up of Tony Needham, Roger Grech, Earl Jeffers, Kim Johnson, Gwyneth Adams and Chris Watkins. The over 60's side was Barrie Russ, Roger Thomas, Dennis Bromage, Pru Oakes and Betty Gray and our over 70's were represented by Gil Hanks, Bill Mackay and Jack Bullock.
In the individual events England dominated all events, Wales appeared in two of the main finals and four of the plate finals.
Regina Donavon lost in the final of the over 40's ladies singles to Huang Shu of England 3-0 and she later combined with Vicky Skeats in the over 40's doubles where they lost to Huang Shu and Sheila King.
In the Plate events Vicky Skeats lost 3-0 to Irene Mcnevin of Ireland, Tony Needham lost to Nabney of Ireland in the Over 50's, Jack Bullock lost a tight match in the 5th to Powell Of Guernsey in the Over 70's and Roger Thomas Won 3 straight to beat Len Bretel of Guernsey for Gold in the Over 60's
All in all it was a successful trip, a very enjoyable weekend in Belfast and hopefully, if we're successful enough in securing a venue then Wales are the hosts for next year.
