They lost the first two sets 5-11 & 4-11 only to stage a remarkable comeback and take the match by winning the next three sets 11-7 12-10 and 12-10 in front of a large and excited crowd of Welsh and Australian supporters. They now move to the next round.
Ryan Jenkins and Adam Robertson were seeded 4th for the mens doubles after their silver medal success in Manchester 4 years ago and their gold medal in the Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships in Kuala Lumpur in 2004. Accordingly there were not required to play in the first round.
