Melbourne 2006: Robertson Through To Quarters

Adam Robertson is through to quarters with unbelievable table tennis. Ryan Jenkins plays just as well but is unlucky to miss out.

Stephen Jenkins narrowly missed a place in the last 32 by losing to Linse of Canada 2-4

Ryan Jenkins dismissed Hubbard of New Zealand to move into the last 16. Score 4-0
11-2 13-11 11-6 11-4

Adam Robertson beat Trevor Brown of Australia 4-1
9-11 11-2 11-8 15-13 11-5

Adam then played Ho of Singapore for a place in the quarters against Alan Cooke of England. Adam was yet again in magnificent form and produced a breathtaking display against the Singapore defender beating him 4-0

Ryan had to face the competition number 2 seed Segun Toriola from Nigeria. This was a fantastic match. Ryan went 2-0 & then 3-1 up in sets. Toriola levelled to 3-3. It went to 9-9 in the 7th before Toriola squeezed through 11-9.

Ryan can be justly proud of some of the best table tennis of his life and was very unlucky to go out in such a way

Ladies Doubles

Bethan Daunton & Naomi Owen missed a quarter final spot by going down to India 2-3

Mens Doubles

Ryan Jenkins & Adam Robertson beat Sugrue and Cowan of Northern Ireland 3-0 to book a quarter final berth

EAD Ladies Singles

Superb displays from Sara Head and Clare Harris

Continued group stage results

Chare Harris beat Pua of Malaysia 3-0 (11-6 11-3 11-5) and Sara beat Leakane of Lesotho 3-0 (11-5 11-3 11-5) with solid displays

Clare then beat the South African Riese 3-0

Sara had a tough match against English rival Campbell winning 3-2 in an exciting finish.

In the final group matches Sara lost to the very strong Nigerian Ozurumba 0-3

Clare beat Wallis of Australia 3-0 to remain 100% in her group.

Both now go through to the quarter finals
