Adam Robertson saw Wales through to another historic first by making the singles semi final in the Commonwealth Games.
He faced Alan Cooke the England number one in an afternoon duel in a hot and noisy Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre today.
He went 5-1 up in the first only to lose 11-13. He came back in an edgy second to level 12-10. He then played superb attacking table tennis to clean out the third 11-4. He lost the next two sets 7-11 & 13-15. Trailing 2-3 in this best of seven encounter he faced going out. However he showed character beyond his years in taking the next two sets 11-9 & 11-7 to put out the England star.
Adam faces Henzell the Australian number one player in the semi tomorrow.
In front of what is sure to be a vociferous home crowd it will be a tough ask, However the Welsh "rent-a-crowd" will be willing him on - as we all will be at home.
In the other semi Toriola the Nigerian plays Achanta of India.
Win lose or draw Wales have made their mark on the Games.
Earlier Adam and Ryan had lost in the quarter final of the mens doubles to Cooke and Drinkall of England 1-3.
In the EAD ladies singles quarter final Clare Harris lost to Faith Obiora of Nigeria 0-3 and Sara Head lost in the fifth to Mitton of England thus ending a valiant effort by the two girls.
The whole of Wales will be rooting for Adam in the singles semi tomorrow which will be starting around 6.20am UK time.
