Coach Education

Links with the Leeds based sports coach UK broaden and strengthen the educational base and provide a dimension which would be difficult to deal with in-house. Sports coach UK Courses are available both regionally and nationally – in many instances, distance learning is an alternative option. For those wishing to have closer ties with sports coaching generally, membership of sports coach UK is available on the sports coach UK web site.

Coaching Qualifications

The TTAW is a part of the UK Coaching Certificate project, and has developed new qualifications in partnership with sports coach UK, 1st4sport qualifications and the other home country table tennis associations. These new qualifications replace the previous TTAW Coach Level 1, 2 awards. The ETTA is the approved centre to deliver the following qualifications awarded by 1st4sport Qualifications in England, Northern Ireland and Wales:

  • Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Table Tennis
  • Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Table Tennis

Further details regarding these qualifications are published separately.

In the near future, we shall be able to offer the Level 3 Certificate, also awarded by 1st4sport. A Level 4 qualification is currently being developed, but as yet no agreement has been made with any awarding body.

More information regarding 1st4sport Qualifications is available on the 1st4sport web site.

The above qualifications are delivered by BTTF approved tutors and assessors, who have been specifically trained and hold, or are working towards achieving, the 'Certificate in Tutoring in Sport' and the 'Introduction to Assessment Practice in Sport' qualifications respectively.

The qualifications are also on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF), and are subject to internal and external verification to ensure that the quality of the qualification and consistency of assessment is maintained. More information regarding the NQF is availablle on the QCA web site.

Leaders and Teachers Qualifications

The TTAW also provides a programme of education for leaders and teachers which lead, after satisfactory assessment, to the following awards:

  • TTAW Sport Leader award

These courses are led by TTAW approved tutors and assessors.
